Breakfast is brought to your chalet at a time specified by you. If you have a motorcycle, it can either be locked inside an alarmed garage, or at least, inside a secure compound. And you are well-protected by the biggest St. Bernard dog I've ever seen (Beethoven - soppy as hell)

Scottish Borders

No name for this one, but the details come from Lesley, the owner

This is our own newly opened B+B? We're in the Scottish Borders 20 miles south of Edinburgh in a Victorian farmhouse. No neighbours, log fires, huge meals and BBQs weather permitting. We have 4 mastiffs so no chance of getting bikes stolen. Only downside is there's nothing to do but enjoy the scenery and we don't have a liquor licence but you're more than welcome to fetch your own!

They also have a self-catering apartment, which can be used as a base from which to tour Scotland.

Crouchers Country Hotel

Birdham Road, Chichester, W. Sussex

Got something special to celebrate? Fancy somewhere really up-market? Then this is the place for you. The accommodation is in chalet-style rooms, in converted outbuildings, and luxury is the order of the day. We stayed in a room in 'The Barn', and it was superb. Mind, it doesn't come cheap! Expect to pay in the region of £140 per room per night.

One word of warning if you're going by bike - the car park is deep shingle, and positively unsafe to ride or park on. However, they were very good, and let us put the bikes on the lawn outside the room.

The Angel

Larling, Norfolk

Another personal recommendation. The Angel pub is situated on what used to be the A11 Norwich Road, now by-passed. B&B is excellent, rooms well-furnished and spotless. All rooms are en-suite. The restaurant is renowned, and usually fully-booked a month or so in advance. The Angel also has facilities for camping, with excellent provision for both tents, caravans and motorhomes. Andrew is an excellent host (he's also an ardent Norwich City fan, but you can't have everything!)

They hold a famous 'Real Ale' beer festival annually, in early August.

For motor-racing fans, Larling is only a mile from Snetterton race-circuit.

Low Greenside Farm

Ravenstonedale, Near Kirby Sephen, Cumbria, CA17 4LU

Mike Riley says 'Rosie the owner made us feel very welcome. We stayed all week (four bikes and three tents) with her, very reasonable rates, beautifull views and idealy located for Yorkshire/Lakes.'

The site is very quiet and undeveloped, on a sheep farm, in a lovely field
with beautiful views all round. Campfires are allowed. The open fell is
just up the lane for walking and mountain biking.
In the village (a short walk away) there is a tennis court, a 9/18 hole golf
course, a small art gallery, and 2 country pubs serving meals. Also nearby
you can go trout fishing (catch one and barbeque it later!). There are
plenty of interesting local walks. One pub also runs a village shop.
There is good access to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales but
none of the hustle and bustle. Camping as it used to be!
